Finaxar.

Building a lending business with a senior leadership team and bank, payments and commerce partnerships.

Finaxar: Co-Founder, May 2016–July 2022; CEO to January 2021, then Chairman.

A first-person account. Role dates, leadership reflections and operating outcomes are owner-reported; independent confirmation pending. Published sources below support their specific claims.

The business problem

Small businesses need financing that fits their operating needs. Finaxar’s published partnerships with Visa, Lazada, Cathay Financial and Indovina Bank show different routes to that problem.

The leadership decisions

As co-founder and CEO, I had to connect the financing product, distribution relationships and the team running the business. My retrospective focuses on that connection; the linked publications establish specific partnerships and company milestones.

The team and delivery

The senior leadership team brought banking and investment experience. Public announcements document leadership appointments and regional partnerships; they do not independently establish every operating outcome below.

Outcomes and evidence

Finaxar: As CEO, I built the business that reached $100M in cumulative loans disbursed in 2021, within 18 months of lending launch. The senior leadership team brought banking and investment experience. Monk’s Hill Ventures and 500 Startups were publicly reported backers; Cathay Financial Holdings as an investor is owner-reported. The Vietnam partnership involved Cathay Financial, Indovina Bank and Finaxar; my description of the bank relationship is Cathay United Bank with Indovina Bank.

Owner-reported outcomes; measurement details and independent corroboration are not published here. Company and team achievements remain company and team achievements.

What I take from the work

Distribution and delivery are part of the product. A partnership announcement establishes a relationship; a business outcome needs its own evidence and a stated measurement period.
